Shehu Sani receives suspension from APC for criticizing El Rufai








The All Progressives Congress (APC) Tudun Wada north ward 6, in Kaduna State, has that it has suspended its member and senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district, Senator Shehu Sani, for criticising and challenging the policies of the state governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai.
Senator Sani had claimed in several for a that el-Rufai was running an anti-masses policies in the state and expressed his displeasure on the manner the state was being governed.
But in a letter addressed to the senator from his ward datedDecember 27, 2015, the Kaduna APC said the senator’s recent statements violate the rules of engagement of the party.
The letter, which was signed by Ahmed Abdulhamid, Auwal Mai Anguwa, Aminu Alilan, secretary, PRO and ex-officio member, respectively, alleged that the senator has succeeded in factionalising the party in the state.
The letter reads in part: “That his anti-party activities is so pronounced in criticising the policies of Malam Nasir el-Rufai, the executive governor of Kaduna State.
“There is hardly a week passes by his group will not be on the air criticising and challenging the enduring legacies of Malam Nasir el-Rufai.
“That his statement on national issues is not in conformity with that of the state governor and government of Kaduna State.
“That he has remained consistently in confrontation with the good policies of the government of Kaduna State and considering it anti-people’s policy.
“In view of the foregoing, we have unanimously agreed that Senator Shehu Sani representing ward six, should be suspended for the period of 11 months and that henceforth he is disengaged in partaking or attending party activities in Kaduna State subject to other punitive measures respectively.”
But in a swift reaction, the special adviser on Political Matters to Senator Sani, Suleiman Ahmed, said the signatories of the letter are ignorant of the constitution of the party, adding that their decision and purported suspension amount to nullity.
He reiterated that the letter or purported suspension will not deter the senator from challenging the governor on any policy or policies that are anti-masses and will not add positively to the well being of the people of the state.
